Shamanic and Reiki healing together pack superb healing power!
Are you interested in holistic healing? If so, your inner healer is awakening! Some of you ask me about Reiki vs. shamanic healing, and my answer is always around the same neighborhood: both of them are essential and work by holding hands together. However, it is true that both healing modalities are quite different: for starters, Reiki taps the astral, and shamanic healing taps planet Earth. But in the end, what matters is that both energies bring profound restoration, and we are talking about them today!
Before we go on, how are you doing with your sleep regime? Did you do any touch-ups? Remember that both REM and non-REM are essential phases for your brain and body to heal and restore. Your brain can adjust naturally when your inner clock is working properly. If you haven't, check it out; it will give you a tip or two!
Going back to Reiki vs. shamanic healing, today I am sharing more about both modalities. It is not the first time we have talked about them, and you will get some references to other articles; however, the key goal for today is that you understand the differences between them. At the end of this article, you will know which modality resonates best with you, or perhaps, the start of a strategy where you combine both modalities as you see fit. You will be able to deal with and help others deal with stress, fear, and negativity in general.
What is Reiki Healing?
Reiki is about moving energy and allowing the universal flow of energy in your life. Keeping it simple, this is a strong place to begin. The story of Dr. Usui on Mount Kurama shows an important order: after receiving the understanding of the energy and how to use it, he first used it on himself. This connects with first-degree Reiki, although once someone has received that first attunement, they can also use Reiki for others.
Reiki can be used both for your own healing and for helping others, which sets it apart from many other energy healing systems. Treating yourself is one of the best ways to become familiar with Reiki, and daily self-treatment is especially recommended at the start of practice.
It can also help with any detoxification symptoms that may appear. Self-treatment can be done by placing your hands on your body using adapted standard hand positions.
Reiki goes where it is needed. It can work simply by turning it on and letting it flow, since you are already in your body and touching it. Using hand positions may give more sensory confirmation than remote treatment and may also work faster in specific areas. You can also work from the heart chakra to the rest of the body, depending on how you feel guided.
What is shamanic healing?
Shamanic healing is all about restoring balance and helping energy return to its natural flow. As you know, I like to keep things simple, so this is a good place to begin. At its core, shamanic healing works with the understanding that part of healing comes from clearing what feels heavy. It works great too with what feels stuck or out of place.
This helps to bring the person back into greater harmony. This can happen through intention and spiritual connection. On top, it needs working with the unseen aspects of energy that affect the body, mind, and spirit, as well as your emotions.
Shamanic healing can be used for your own process as well as to support others. One of the most important parts of this work is learning to listen: to your body and your intuition. Focus, and you will hear the deeper messages that may come through during a session.
I recommend approaching it with respect and openness, especially at the beginning, because the practice often reveals what needs attention in a direct but natural way. In that sense, it is not only about healing symptoms but also about helping restore connection within yourself.
The energy in shamanic healing will often move where it is most needed. Sometimes this is felt strongly, and sometimes it is more subtle, but the process does not need to be forced. You may work through intention, through the heart, through visualization, or through focused presence, depending on how you feel guided, so make sure to look inside. What matters most is allowing the healing to unfold in the way that is right for that moment.
Reiki healing vs. shamanic healing
You may be wondering, which is better, Reiki or shamanic healing? I would approach this in terms of "how to combine" rather than simply separating the two healing modalities. Neither Reiki nor shamanic healing is better or worse, because they work in different ways and each has its own strengths. As you know, I prefer to keep things clear, so the simplest way to explain it is this: Reiki tends to feel gentler and more structured, while shamanic healing often feels deeper and more direct, always focusing more on uncovering what is underneath the surface. This is why it is ideal to combine the two.
Reiki is often a beautiful choice when someone needs calm, balance, and steady energetic support. It usually brings a sense of peace, relaxation, and flow, and many people find it easier to integrate because of its softness and simplicity. As I say, "It feels like wonderful warm light that simply nurtures you." Shamanic healing, on the other hand, can be especially powerful when someone feels there is something heavier or older. Even if it is more complex, keep in mind that it needs to be addressed, and these energies will help you best. It may help bring hidden patterns and energetic blocks into awareness so they can begin to shift.
In general, Reiki shines through its simplicity, harmony, and nurturing quality, while shamanic healing stands out through its depth, intensity, and transformational nature. Some people resonate more with one than the other, and sometimes the best choice depends on what is needed in that moment. In truth, both can be valuable, and both can support healing in meaningful ways when approached with respect, clarity, and the right intention.
In the end, if you, the practitioner, and the person receiving the healing can focus on applying both. It's like the Shamanic healing gives you that big push you need, and at the same time, the Reiki energy keeps pushing you every day to keep loving yourself, noticing what shines through you, and ultimately, getting restoration for the very push that the shamanic energies have, making it a very profound and complete session.
Which Should You Choose?
You may want to try one at a time, or you prefer to separate these different types of energies. If so, you can start by choosing the option that feels easier for you, and the one that will help you get started most easily:
- Reiki: you want gentle, ongoing support; stress or anxiety relief; support with grief, or even regular energy maintenance.
- Shamanic Healing: you're dealing with deep trauma, recurring life patterns, spiritual disconnection, or feel "stuck" in life.
- Combine both: Reiki can be an excellent tool to help integrate and sustain the deeper work done in shamanic healing.
If you feel out of sorts or anxious and desire peace, Reiki's restorative energy may be best; if you're experiencing a dark night of the soul or need a breakthrough, shamanic healing's energy can initiate transformation.
What should I expect?
I recommend that it is ideal to go without expectations, since you need to be willing to receive and allow yourself to have, that's it! Healing doesn't work with everybody the same, and my recommendation, if you are still unsure, is for you to try either one of the sessions, perhaps starting with Reiki, and from there, shamanic healing.
Receive a complete healing session
Complete Healing: Positive Energy to the Core
Receive a deep shamanic upper-world restoration session
You can venture even further on either session, but for getting started, a complete healing session to focus on the now, plus an Upper World restoration as an easier introduction to shamanic healing, should bring fantastic and pleasant results.
Conclusion
In the end, it is quite simple: Reiki healing works with universal energies, while shamanic healing works with the energy and the spirits of Earth, tapping into elemental energies. Shamanic healing is ancient, dating back many thousands of years, while Reiki originated from Mikao Usui in the early 20th century.
Remember that both modalities are super powerful, and I combine both energies to promote an even better result. You might have experienced this already if you worked with me before and went with a combo session where I use both healings. If you haven't, check out this shamanic-Reiki healing session and experience a beautiful shift to betterment.
FAQ
Q: Is Reiki or shamanic healing better for anxiety?
A: Both are great, but, indeed, Reiki focuses more on promoting energy maintenance and clearing issues such as stress, while shamanic healing could focus more on deep trauma or spiritual disconnection.
Q: Can Reiki and shamanic healing be combined?
A: Yes! Both Reiki and shamanic energies bring wonderful vibrations to both the person who channels them and the person who receives them. By setting clear intentions, you can combine both energies, working with them in different ways, for example, channeling Reiki from the Upper World.
Q: How many Reiki sessions do I need vs. shamanic healing?
A: The number of sessions differs by person or situation. Reiki healing vs. shamanic healing is not a 50/50 split, nor does it mean "one is stronger." So, depending on the situation and also the actions (if any) you are capable of taking, you will need more or fewer sessions. It is unique to each person and something to do "on the fly."
Q: Is shamanic healing safe?
A: Yes, shamanic healing is safe because these energies will flow toward your needs. It is true that, as with Reiki healing, grounding and reintegrating are important parts. In shamanic healing, the reintegration is more profound, and it will be gentler for you to not be super occupied right after a session and give yourself some time.
Q: What is Shamanic Reiki?
A: Shamanic Reiki is precisely the combination of the two. Other practitioners may have different views, but for me, the combination of both energies by any means could receive the label "Shamanic Reiki." Remember that it's just that, a label that tells you, "You will get both universal and elemental energies for your needs."
Q: Which is more spiritual, Reiki or shamanic healing?
A: Both Reiki and shamanic healing are spiritual; everything is connected, and "nature" is not only our green planet but the entire universe. You will always be tapping profound sources of energy; it doesn't matter the modality.
Don't forget, more than Reiki vs. shamanic healing, you could say "Reiki and shamanic healing" because you are combining two amazing powerhouses.
