It is time you start projecting your undivided attention over everything you do
Hey, hey! How are you all doing this fine Wednesday? I hope you are enjoying the summer (or winter if you are in the Southern Hemisphere!) Last week we talked about people with Gold Auras and the true meaning of this energetic essence. Today we are going to talk about undivided attention and how essential it is to use it. Even more today while experiencing a busy society with a lot of electronics and big corporations trying to drive our will.
Today, you might be doing a lot of things, yesterday you probably did a lot of things, and for tomorrow guess what? you got a lot to do. Got it, this is real for everybody, and this overload is exponentially increasing, and for this reason, is more important now than ever to start yielding a little bit more quality undivided attention to things in your life. You will be surprised by how much can happen when you focus properly on something.
The impact of expanding or shrinking one’s word
I want to start by saying that the Principle of Polarity is absolute with everything that exists. Before, when our lives were simpler, we didn’t have a lot assets as we do right now. We didn’t have a lot to do, and this is not something very ancient, but quite recent, even modern still in some places:
- Take rural areas, you will see a lot of people, normally the Elderly, that enjoy just looking at how cars go by, or just into a quiet road with barely any activity. You could tell that their lives are not very thrilling. Their lives are monotonous, but they like it. Only one thing to do, so there is undivided attention.
- Take a busy city area with people in their 30s who know a lot of spiritual concepts and terms. They will sure have no time to stare at no road… The double negative is intended because they do indeed have the time for it if they cease to stare endlessly through hundreds of videos about cats or your favorite actors. Monotony happens here with greater power, and entrapping you a lot more, even if you are not aware. A lot of times, you are doing more than one thing at a time, and still time is insufficient.
In the first example, it is very likely that they likely have greater mindfulness than you, even if they do not know the meaning of this word. You perhaps know the meaning of it, you are reading this article, but you do so many things that you cannot project undivided attention over these things. Doing a lot of things is great, maybe they are all awesome, and it is great you do them, but perhaps you need to remember to focus best on one at a time.
Perhaps you need to reduce the amount of things you do in life and start to narrow down what brings you the best outcomes for your life goals. This is quite easy to do, you only need to start projecting undivided attention to the things you do. In other words, doing one thing at a time, but giving your all to it.
I want to tell you that narrowing down and optimizing your life is only one benefit of undivided attention, but I am sharing more.
Controlling attention brings happiness
It is amazing all the things that you miss in life when you don’t pay undivided attention. With the example above, the rural person starting at the road is likely to be happier than an urban person just looking out the window. A lot of times, paying attention to the little things pays off in ways you can’t even imagine.
Perhaps you had the opportunity, or a moment to pay undivided attention to something as simple as some flowers in front of your home. You will probably realize that those flowers are beautiful and almost surprised at how come you could have missed them day after day. Can you relate? But it doesn’t only come to get the most out of things, but even having a better, and more fruitful life because you will stop missing opportunities and situations.
Focus better on things, it pays off!
Perhaps you are thinking that this is easier said than done. I will not lie to you, it is true, but the biggest effort it takes is your determination. You don’t need to check your phone when you are living in your home, instead, you only need to look closer to all your surroundings. Easy, right? Certainly, it is easier than walking and checking your phone at the same time! So, the only challenge here is to put your phone away and raise your head.
Using undivided attention is not that hard, it is a mere intention. Sometimes, simple things bring the strongest transformations, and to make this happen, you only need to have goodwill and intention. For example, in the example above, you only need to put your phone down, as you don’t need to be all day on it.
It is not only about seeing flowers, you are not Ferdinand the Bull, but it is about noticing every single happening in your life. If you have undivided attention to a task you are performing, you will finish the task successfully with a far reduced error margin. It doesn’t end here, you will get better and faster if you have to repeat this task in the future.
For example, if you focus deeply, you will perhaps find a better way to do these tasks, or you might come up with a great idea, making your undivided attention greatly pay off. Take a group conversation, if you are present and focused, you might learn something such as a new idea or perhaps even an opportunity. Other people will appreciate if you are yielding undivided attention to them or not, and some people are extremely observant, so they will certainly notice.
Okay! I want to be able to yield undivided attention to things. Help?
Then, you are already 50% into it, because if you have clear intentions to be able to yield undivided attention, you are already making a shift to your consciousness. I am not going to give you a list of things to do such as “don’t use your phone all day,” if you want tips like those, check out this mindfulness article, and this article about sleeping better. I want you to go deeper, so these are simple pieces of advice, but that will yield a lot.
The obvious
Again, I will not talk about this but I only name them. Start to keep a few basic things into account such as doing one thing at a time. If you take this simple step, you will already significantly enhance your undivided attention capabilities.
Reappraisal
I do not feel this one to be my favorite, but I have to say it helps a lot, and it is a powerful first step. You need to reduce the negativity output in a situation to connect better with it. Your car broke down and you cannot go shopping: You think that perhaps the mall was going to be too busy, and even perhaps not finding anything cute.
With this approach, you “weaken the demon” because remember, we don’t defeat some demons, we learn to be above them. Your car has already broken down, and you can’t do anything about it, but you can be above the situation with this step alone. Here, you will project undivided attention for further resolutions, and maybe you decide to enjoy a nice lunch with a friend who happens to be available. This is a significant and helpful psychological step (source: National Library of Medicine)
Focus on those who believe in you
This one is simple, it is a no-brainer. You do not feel empowered, and you feel alone. Don’t seek to connect with those that you don’t trust, or even worse, with those that pushed you back in the first place. Remember the people who love and care for you, those who trust your skills and believe in you.
Don’t even focus on validation from new people, go back to your safe zone. Here, you will project undivided attention and maybe realize you were not the problem. Maybe you were the problem, but if so, you will see what changes you need instead of dwelling on negative emotions.
Change boredom into fun and seek flow
Sometimes, going with the flow is the best way, but you need to make sure you go with the flow and not that you are dragged by it. With undivided attention, you will know what to let go, just flow with it, and focus on what is important.
For mundane tasks, you can for example turn them into small personal challenges. You will project undivided attention to these tasks, allowing you to find ways to optimize them without even thinking about it, but just playing a small game or challenging yourself. If you ponder, you may find ways to always have some fun. Can you pull a new dancing stunt? You have a dancing partner who will make it happen while you do this one boring chore.
Treat yourself, have some fun, unwind
The brain (as well as your body) is a bio-machine, that has even more needs and more maintenance than a regular machine, for example. A hard drive needs maintenance, and so does your mind. Yielding undivided attention requires focus, and focusing requires energy. You can get very tired without moving from your chair if you spend all day working without a break. Every single machine needs a reboot now and then too.
If you focus only on requirements, you will eventually grow tired, and this will reduce your capacity for undivided attention. You only need to do something different, and something fun in other to break the boring loop. Go and get yourself a treat while you leave your work phone at home (remember, undivided attention!) Here, your consciousness will grasp the full experience, with the batteries fully recharged to focus plenty on the next challenge.
Projecting your undivided attention
Now, it is time for a small list, with some different advice I can share with you to help you enhance how you project undivided attention. Other people must see and feel that you are paying undivided attention to them, the same way you want it projected to you.
- Eyes: The obvious is looking into the eyes, but this alone is not enough, because you might still not be present, and some people will read your pupils finding out your mind is elsewhere. Plus, this is a cruel request if you are an empath, trust me, I know well.
- Remove distractions: Shut down that annoying phone for once! At least, put it in silence mode (not vibration either… silent mode!) You will not be distracted, nor the other person. If you are meeting at your desk, for example, remove screensavers and even your Newton’s Pendulum if you have it! They will eventually stop, but their annoyance during a conversation won’t!
- Show interest: Even if you need to just listen and show a good face, you want to keep your undivided attention on your body language, to make sure you show interest. Despite your interest, it doesn’t reduce or increment the value of what that person needs to tell you.
- Get in their shoes: This one is easy to do if you follow what they are sharing, as well as open up a little bit of your empathy. You can also use your imagination and see how you would feel and react if what the other person is saying, was happening to you. You will grow a deeper understanding, and through undivided attention to what they shared, you might help them as well as make them feel better.
- Listening and quietening your mind: Focus on what the other person is saying instead of formulating your response. If you find it hard to focus, repeat what the speaker is saying in your mind to stay engaged. You will see a greater picture of things, and it will be easier to focus with undivided attention.
- Body language: This one goes on both ends, for you to provide undivided attention to see also the body language of other people you are talking with. You will know better and be more present while keeping yours appropriate for the other person to pick up you in the conversation.
Focusing on yourself
To wrap up, I want to share something more… which is about projecting undivided attention to yourself. Think about it, if you break down, everything will come to a halt. To be able to get all your life goals and desires while making great connections and being present in life, you need to be well. You need to honor your needs, as well as pay attention to your physical body to ensure it stays healthy while keeping a good balance away from inordinate affection. In the end, it is simple, you must project undivided attention to everything you do, whether is for others, or yourself. Whether is fun, monotonous, or involves investing your time in other people that pursue your help. You will get a lot more out of life, and others will get a lot more out of you. Try it!FAQ

A: Focus on following clearly what they are talking about while observing body language, being present in the conversation, getting in their shoes, and removing any unnecessary instructions such as cell phone noises and screensavers.Q: How can I improve my overall ability to provide undivided attention?
A: Learn to be more present in the here and now instead of rushing through everything. Focus on doing only one thing at a time is also essential while engaging your physical and spiritual senses.Q: How do you use undivided attention on yourself?
A: For example, set aside 10-15 minutes at the end of the day to listen to what your mind and body have to tell you. You will be able to organize ideas and ponder deeper on important situations. So, have you read the whole thing in one blow? Perhaps you did, and if so, thank you very much! Thank yourself as well, because probably you got the most out of this article since you were not distracted by providing undivided attention to your reading. Make sure to keep doing that, now, leave a comment on how well you do with focusing on things to inspire others!
