The Throat Chakra – The power of eloquence, good communication, and expression.

The Throat Chakra? What are the chakras?
Hi, folks! So, how was August? How did Mercury Retrograde go for you? Well, yesterday, the “energetic leftovers” from mercury retrograde ceased to affect us, yay!! No more Mercury (till December…) If you are a bit lost about this whole mercury thing, check out this post right here to know more about it. We are not talking about Mercury, aren’t we! Neither about something intense such as death. So, let’s go to today’s topic, the throat chakra.Â
The same way we have organs, we have chakras, thousands of them spread throughout our entire body. However, in the same way we have principal organs, we have seven main chakras that complete our chakra system. You can read more about Chakra here.
You can also find a video course with lifetime access that will guide you through each of the chakras, including a powerful meditation.
Empower your throat chakra and speak to the world!
So, the throat chakra is the foundation of our ability to (appropriately) communicate, something that ceases to happen with a blocked throat chakra. At a physical level, a healthy throat chakra will benefit your entire respiratory system. Especially regarding immunity at your nose and mouth. It will block and destroy most unwelcome agents. However, as I write this line (and erase many others), I feel like the best is to point out the benefits of an open throat chakra:
Communication.
In today’s world, we live under constant social pressure for multiple reasons (no need to get into that!) We all say, symbolically speaking, “The Jungle of the Big City.” Moreover, I am pretty sure that some random gazelle (while being chased by a lion) would be happier to be on his/her own (despite about to be eaten) jungle than ours… Well, jokes aside, humanity as a whole feels superior to the rest of the creatures of our planet. Technically, this is to thanks to our ability to communicate with reason and awareness, while animals only go by instinct. It is essential to know how to express well.
The human being, in general, is very egocentric in regards to sharing our little blue rock.
Well, I have to say I do not support this claim, but it is what science claims. Standing on two feet helps as well, but communication is the basis of our “beautiful” human civilization… Anyway, communication fuels by the throat chakra. People who have a healthy throat chakra will be able to be the right speaker. Someone who knows when to listen. Furthermore, someone who knows how to express what they feel (in the case of a relationship.) Alternatively, just using the right words at the right time.
It is essential to learn to be more open, especially in emotional connections, as, ironically, it is in romantic relationships where people express their feelings the least (pun intended.) Here, we also get the heart chakra involved, but you can read more about that here. The point is, speak up, express yourself, learn to listen, and you will start to expand and grow your throat chakra, enlarging its benefits as well.
Eloquence.
There is much fuzz around fluency, used for both good intentions and evil intentions. Our society is “in a little bit of trouble,” thanks to massive eloquences that move the masses. Okay, okay, eloquence is not the only “ingredient” here, there is much more, but definitely, eloquence has to do. Fluency comes with an open throat chakra. Sure, your brain/mind has a paper here too, but eloquence is a tricky weapon to use, and poorly handled, it can backfire. It would be best if you had the eloquence to survive in this society. Period.
Mainly if you belong to the “jungle”, I was talking about before. If you are in corporate, sales, call centers, etc… it is all based on eloquence and communication. Maybe someone who is much lazier than you get promoted before you. It could be many things, and you could conspire for hours, but corruption and karmic issues aside, is typically the eloquence that gets you up there (especially if you do a good job.) It is an essential tool to compete if you are in that world.
Strong throat chakra and solar plexus empower you even more, your eloquence.
Maybe you are in a different situation where you do not need to use your eloquence. If you are self-employed and following your passion, you will not need so much “eloquence” (unless it touches corporate). Still, it will serve you as an excellent tool for improved self-expression and connect better with others. Eloquence is not a gift; eloquence is available to everybody. Expressiveness needs to be worked out to expand it. Developing it will help your throat chakra, which reciprocally will grow your eloquence…
You will connect better with everybody, and you will bring benefits to your life if you have real eloquence. Work it out!
More “speaking power.”
When the throat chakra expands, it vibrates at a higher frequency. We all know that. Moreover, what happens with higher frequencies, we hear them better (pun intended again.) It does not matter if you have a booming voice (or if you speak loud) or the actual sound of it… Okay, maybe your voice is deeper, so possibly, it may still be hard for people to hear you. Public speakers, for example, have massively expanded throat chakras; this is why they draw so much attention.
Sure they speak loud… I guess it is what it takes for a whole stadium to hear the public speaker… Of course, besides, the help from some electronics and the passion of such a speaker.) In meetings, groups of friends in a relaxed setting, etc… regardless of the tone of someone’s voice with an open throat chakra, will always draw more attention and end up speaking more. So, if you work your throat chakra, you will also be heard “louder” and better!
Knowing when to listen.
Also, while telling you to shush after what you have been reading seems a paradox, it is not. Talking all the time is a sign of overactive throat chakra. So over-active throat chakra can result from other under-active or blocked chakras. Notably, in regards to the throat chakra, the two closest ones affect the most; the third eye and the heart. No one likes when in a group. A person is talking non-stop, right? Working on your other chakras is recommended to help your throat chakra not to be “too open.”
Moreover, this is to shush! Learn to listen. Different active and healthy throat chakras (aka other people) might have something interesting (even for you) to say!
These to name the most important ones and avoiding some redundancy.
You can heal it!
I want to mention a significant thing, though. Expanding the throat chakra does not mean heading to an over-active estate (even though I recommend you try to keep your chakras balanced the most.) If you expand your throat chakra (as any other chakra) healthily, it will continually grow, but will not become over-active (imagine you are driving a small road, you have a minimum and maximum speed, you now enter the freeway, those limits have changed, haven’t them ;).)
The same when expanding chakras (but always with a faster-freeway to come). The same way you can “enter,” you can exit. So make sure to keep a healthy balance. Being honest opens your throat chakra as well. There is a bija mantra for each of the chakras; I will share them all so, what comes next does not sound like a joke, even though chanting your throat chakra can get you hungry! The purpose is to keep your throat chakra healthy!
The Bija Mantras:
- Lam
- Vam
- Ram
- Yam
- Ham
- OM
- AUM
So indeed, you can chant any of these to put them on a balanced level.
So, to expand your throat chakra, you should chant “Ham” repeatedly. (Too bad this joke only works in English!). When you chant “HAM” to balance your throat chakra, do it very slowly and with a very long “Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam.” Slowly start to release air as you keeping saying “AAAA.”)) Ensure you reach the “mmmm” when you are about 25% of the air left in your lungs. Feel how the mmmm vibrates through your entire throat. You can also visualize the color of blue and how it flows through your throat. How you breathe it, in and out.
You can do this mantra for 5-10 minutes. Your throat chakra will be very happy. Keep it happy with everything I mentioned above.
A guided meditation for the throat chakra, as well as the others.
I suggest you try this powerful guided meditation to balance your chakras, as you will bring enormous benefits. It is suitable for beginner meditators as well as for the most seasoned ones. You can find this chakra meditation from “The Classics” here:
