Let's meet: Temperance Tarot Card—An introduction
I resonate very much with the Temperance tarot card because it talks many times about possibility, resilience, and the capability of releasing. Sometimes, the message is simple: "Let it go, and you will be at peace." Do you hold onto past mistakes? Dwelling on the past is not good, especially if you are promoting negativity. If you are reading this and you are the type who holds on to negative situations, especially from the past, the Temperance card is knocking on your door.
You don't have to be amazing or accomplish a great feat to release something. You simply have to understand it, allow self-forgiveness if necessary, and while you grow stronger, learning from the experience, you can now let it shift away from your consciousness. The Temperance Tarot Card meaning revolves around finding serenity by letting go of what no longer belongs in the simplest of ways, and without judgment, especially without self-destructive comments.
Upright meanings
If this card comes up upright to you, it means that it is time to indeed let go of all the clutter that no longer belongs to you. You can't imagine how many times you can be holding on to something you no longer need. The temperance tarot card meaning also revolves around finding serenity and spiritual balance. You need to be at peace with yourself. You can reach this state by starting to expose yourself to yourself in your private time, internalizing your thoughts, and working from within outwards, let it go!

You can tell that this card is about cleaning clutter and letting go. If you check the symbolism, the keyboard only has one giant button: "Delete." This shows how important it is to focus on the here and now, on the task at hand. On top, you can tell there is a physical release going on and flowing away as a liquid element into the sea of consciousness.Â
The message is obvious: it is time to be real with yourself. You can expose yourself completely when you are in privacy; no one will judge you but yourself, and the temperance tarot card in the upright position tells you this. You need to be real with yourself, and some of you, even with awareness, will ignore this, and you can't imagine how unfortunate that is. So, if you see this card, give yourself a push to let go. Let's focus on how it affects different living areas:
- Love and Relationships. Do you have unnecessary drama in your relationship, but ultimately, there is a deeper love and a sincere connection? Perhaps both you and your partner need to let go of something and talk about it in a relaxed setting, without judgment or mutual finger-pointing. Approach with the sake of letting go of what brings conflict and promoting what brings harmony. This is true for any personal connection.
- Finances and Career. Are you feeling overwhelmed? Is your plate too full? You perhaps need to regroup yourself and improve how you are handling your career, especially if you run a business. Remember, you are not a machine, and the Temperance Tarot Card reminds you of the potential of having a steady success without pushing things too hard and without overextending yourself. Learn to relax and let go of what does not work to give room to what works and brings productivity.
- Spirituality and Health. The temperance tarot card meaning here revolves around letting go of old beliefs that are blocking you. For example, someone made you believe you cannot connect to your spirit guides, and the fact is that you can; you need to let go of this misbelief. This card also promotes self-reflection and getting to know yourself better. This is super important, and if you are not comfortable within yourself, I will be happy to help you reconnect. Reach out!
I feel that the Temperance tarot card applies to everybody, first showing up in upright mode, reminding you that it is a good time to start to let go of the clutter. After a long day at the beach, you appreciate a shower, don't you? The same goes in any setting—physical, mental, spiritual... even emotional. With self-care, you can always let go of what is haunting you if you really love yourself and allow yourself to have this.
Reverse meaning
To continue as I was sharing above, the temperance tarot card comes first in upright mode, telling you it's time to cleanse. It is possible you are the type that prefers to hold on to negativity and dwell within discouraging emotions, while you constantly say how awful you are and how wrong you always feel. You are not a bad person, and neither are you screwed, but you need more healing than anyone, and the temperance tarot card in reverse will likely show up to you.

If you receive a Temperance tarot card reversed, you don't have to worry, because it means that you have to take immediate action to bring a shift in your life and make an effort to let go of what does not belong to you. Imagine that you are holding a very hot bowl of soup; eventually, you will have to let it go, or you will burn your skin. In this situation, you managed not to let go of the bowl, even if it's burning your skin in throbbing pain, and you still seem to hold onto it.
You are very stubborn, but you are promoting your suffering, and you are the one who is giving it more power. I am sure that deep down, you don't want to be in such a state of negativity, do you? Life experiences might have brought you to this situation today, but it doesn't mean you cannot take the reins and regain control of your life by starting to shift and let go of all that is bothering you. Let's go a little deeper into the meanings:
- Love and relationships. You need to start to invest in promoting a better flow in your relationship, whether it is communication, sex, love, or simply your day-to-day. Avoid going to extremes; it is unnecessary and painful. There might be unmet expectations in the relationship, and it is important to have a good understanding and work together for a better connection.
- Finances and career. Are you compensating for your imbalances by overworking yourself or, perhaps, overspending your hard-earned money on unnecessary things? You need to adjust your daily routine and how you approach your work, especially if you run your own business. You will need to reassess priorities to find a better flow in your life, because if you keep at this pace, you will risk attracting sickness and other bigger issues.
- Spirituality and Health. Here is where life imbalances reflect clearly. Perhaps you are the type of person who is concerned about dieting, exercising, and keeping healthy skin, but you don't care for your emotions; you dwell in fear and negativity, and you don't work on your mental health because "it's hard." Eventually, you may trigger severe health problems by not promoting a flow for all problems to go away. Remember, there is more than what you can see with your little pair of eyes.
Again, there is nothing wrong if you are in this state of mind. No, you are not worse than others; you do not suck, and no, you are not stupid either... You are just a masochist who loves self-destructibility. But deep down, you don't like to be in this state, and you only need to reach out for some support. We can overcome these challenges together.
You should reflect on the following questions
When I created The Conspiracy Tarot (if you want a copy, make sure to use the coupon BLOG111 at checkout), I added questions for you to reflect upon each of the cards. You can find this within the pages of the Little White Book that comes with the deck. But for today, for the Temperance Tarot Card, I am sharing these questions for you to reflect over. Once you do, feel free to leave a comment and share your thoughts and findings. This will help others a lot!
- What do you have in your life that is not worth anything to you, and can you leave it behind?
- Can you affirm that all your relationships are positive and necessary in your life?
- Are you able to find self-forgiveness when you make a mistake?
I've been questioning whether to leave a comment for each of these questions, but I want to leave them as they come in the Little White Book for the Conspiracy Tarot. I hope these questions help you bring something that will improve your life, even a little bit.
Temperance Tarot Card Guided Meditation
The next card for the series of Guided Meditations is where you will experience the energy of Tarot Cards. The meditation for today, as you have guessed, is the Death Tarot Card Meditation, and you have it available in the store.
In this guided meditation, you will first look for stuff in your life that serves no purpose, enabling you to let it go and replace it with something more aligned with you. From here, you will also find a past mistake and reassure yourself that you find self-forgiveness and let it go completely, freeing yourself. You will feel clear and liberated as soon as you experience this wonderful journey; you only need to let go.
