Let's meet: The Moon Tarot Card—An introduction
The Moon Tarot Card meanings always revolve around something mysterious or unknown, like a cave hidden behind some vines falling from a majestic tree. No one knew about this cave, so it's like magical and holds a lot of secrets. The energy of the Moon connects a lot with intuition, the sense capable of seeing beyond the physical boundaries and uncovering the mysterious.
The Moon Tarot Card also talks a lot about the subconscious mind, and it also refers to our shadow self, that part of ourselves that is hidden even from our consciousness. The message around here is an encouragement to seek the unknown, for example, to explore your subconscious mind while you also work on developing your intuition so you can expand your perception.
Upright meaning
When the Moon Tarot Card shows upright, it means that you are projecting fear into your present and possibly your future because you don't know exactly the potential results from your actions. From my experience as a reader, the Moon tarot guides you towards opening your sight beyond your physical capability, normally through your intuition or the development of spiritual gifts.

The Moon Tarot Card meaning in the upright position also encourages you to move forward toward the unknown, to connect with it. Your instinct (intuition) will be a powerful guide so that, through your Heart Chakra, for example, you will see if this path you are feeling drawn to serves your highest purpose. This is why the lobster in the card is trying to reach the Moon, as it feels drawn to it.
It is possible that there is a lot of uncertainty in your life, and you are feeling lost and confused. Here, your advice is to first look within for any guidance, what you can do and how. Here, you will also have a clear idea in case you have to seek someone else's support or even learn something before proceeding. It is possible that you need to discover and untap your hidden potentials, so deep introspection here is helpful as well. Let's go with the different meanings:
- Love and Relationships. The Moon Tarot Card meaning upright in the love department normally means struggle and difficulty in the relationships because there are too many hidden truths, uncovered lies, fears that block communication, and complicated emotions in general. It is important to do some work in communication and understand each other's fears, including those due to former negative experiences.
- Finances and Career. You are potentially feeling lost in your career but wanting to move forward. If the Moon Tarot Card shows here, you are trying to do better, to step up, but you don't know how, or you believe you simply can't. Here, it is great to brainstorm and really put yourself together. Clarify with yourself the paths you want to follow, what your strategy is, and what assets you have. Pay special attention when making financial decisions.
- Spirituality and Health. You must work on yourself at all levels: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. You have possibilities that will lead to potential healing and uncovering hidden potentials that will benefit you at all levels. You have the opportunity to walk away from feeling lost and blind and feel aligned in your spiritual path. Get to know your strengths and weaknesses, and harness them appropriately.
The Moon Tarot Card is a fantastic "alarm" that tells you, "there is something more." Imagine a video game in which you have a magical dowsing rod that vibrates if there is a secret treasure nearby. This magical dowsing rod represents the Moon Tarot card, so if you see one, take it as if this video game's dowsing rod were real. Perhaps you are missing something great, but this card tells you, "Here, there is a secret here," and if you look around, you will find it.
Reverse Meaning
I personally feel that the reverse meaning of the Moon tarot card aligns well with the Principle of Polarity in regard to its upright version. While the upright says, "There is a secret lying around," from the reversed version, it's more like, "You fell into a mystifying trap!" The reverse meaning talks about lies and deception, but to a point where it has already taken effect.
One meaning here is that the Moon Tarot card's reverse meaning tells you that you are going through a darker time in your life, where you have little control over the outcomes you are heading to. Sometimes, this goes to a point that makes you feel you have lost control, when in reality, you could still regain command if you take the steering wheel.

Another powerful meaning is that you are battling (and winning) anxiety, fears, or other traumas that have kept you trapped for a long time. This could be mentally exhausting, and you could feel very drained energetically. Don't forget to do some grounding exercises, as well as some spiritual meditations (you can find some here), that will recharge your energetic batteries.
I always recommend you give priority to your needs when going through a period of the reversed moon tarot card, because it is a great opportunity to heal, where most likely, you are already healing and don't want this to be interrupted. Normally, this card talks about experiencing realizations. To give an extreme example, someone who found that their spiritual path was cultist and is realigning themselves is a great example for the Moon Tarot Card in reverse. Let's dig up some more meanings:
- Love and Relationships. It is possible there is something off in your relationship. A lack of communication that could be heading toward a lie or some sort of deception, but your intuition is like a "red blinking light," warning you that there is something off. This could also point at you, so make sure that you are honest with your partner; ask yourself first, and then you can ponder on your partner's integrity. Even if you don't want to hurt the other person, it is important to address these problems.
- Finances and Career. We have two powerful meanings here, as on one side, the moon tarot card reversed symbolizes the capability to finally understand what you need to end your professional and financial uncertainties. However, it can also mean a loss of control due to anxiety and worry, materializing your fears at your workplace.
- Spirituality and Health. Here, one powerful meaning is finding the answer to a problem that is affecting your life and has been keeping you worried or in a state of fear and uncertainty about potential outcomes. Ultimately, it could also mean not being able to find the understanding of a problem and having to continue exploring it. Spiritually, you could be feeling alone, but could also be starting to understand your spiritual inclinations better.
In the end, the Moon Tarot card reversed always brings the reflection to understanding that you still need to keep searching to fulfill a mystery and uncover a hidden truth that will benefit your life, requiring you to take action before you completely lose the opportunity, or you even get lost within the process. Remember to trust your intuition, don't let your ego mislead you, and you will find that your inner guidance will be a powerful advisor.
You should reflect on the following questions:
When I created The Conspiracy Tarot (if you want a copy, make sure to use the coupon BLOG111 at checkout), I added questions for you to reflect upon each of the cards. You can find this within the pages of the Little White Book that comes with the deck. But for today, for the Moon Tarot Card, I am sharing these questions for you to reflect over. Once you do, feel free to leave a comment and share your thoughts and findings. This will help others a lot!
- Do you make sure that a source of information is accurate before learning from it?
- What do you do to expand your knowledge?
- What have you found on the moon if you've visited on an astral journey?
I've been questioning whether to leave a comment for each of these questions, but I want to leave them as they come in the Little White Book for the Conspiracy Tarot. I hope these questions help you bring something that will improve your life, even a little bit.
